CBC provided 30 students with the opportunity to put on an evening news broadcast in Vancouver.
Students produced stories, reported on stories and did streeter paks and promos. The team of finalists were chosen from over 150 applicants. These students worked with top journalists like Mi-Young Lee and Alan Waterman to produce their stories. Time in the editing studios, production and reporting were well spent.

IMPACT NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The conference attracts 500 of the top high school and post-secondary students from across Canada. This is where youth leaders and like-minded individuals with a passion for entrepreneurship gather to inspire, learn, educate, and cultivate their peers with the entrepreneurial spirit.
This two-day conference aims to inspire and motivate youth to participate in entrepreneurial endeavours while equipping them with the skills needed to become ambassadors for entrepreneurship in their communities.
Impact’s networking activities and workshops provide participants with an opportunity to develop and practice key business skills such as teamwork, strategizing, decision making, taking initiative, practical start-up skills, and creative thinking. In addition the conference boasts a star-studded lineup of speakers from a wide spectrum of backgrounds including business, entertainment, technology and science. These speakers lead a variety of stimulating events designed to enrich delegates’ knowledge on entrepreneurship. This year’s conference features a variety of events including 6th annual gala dinner, interactive workshops, breakaway speaker sessions, office tours, an exhibition and much more.

Can’t get enough of chemistry?
The Canadian Chemistry Contest covers a wide range of materials in the Pan-Canada curriculum – from gas equilibrium to organic chemistry. Part A of the contest consist of 25 multiple choice questions, while Part B contains two essays (chosen from four topics). Each part must be completed within 90min. Monetary prizes are awarded to the top scorers. This contest is completely hand-marked!

Encounters with Canada is Canada’s largest youth forum! Every week of the school year, 120 to 138 teens from across Canada (ages 14 to 17) come to Ottawa. Here they discover their country through each other, learn about Canadian institutions, meet famous and accomplished Canadians, explore exciting career options, develop their civic leadership skills and live an extraordinary bilingual experience.
Each week there is a different forum topic. The topics range from arts and culture to health and sciences. There’s also a week in law and politics as well as sports and fitness. There’s something for EVERYONE.

Cadets Canada

The Cadet Program:
* promotes teamwork, leadership and citizenship
* helps develop decision making skills
* increases self-confidence and physical fitness
The Cadet Program contains three separate elements: sea, army and air. While all three elements share common training, each program also has its own distinct focus.
Sea Cadets – focus on seamanship and learning to sail
Army Cadets – focus on outdoor adventure
Air Cadets – focus on principles of aviation and learning to fly
There are no registration fees or dues to join the Cadet Program.
Upon joining, uniforms and accoutrements are provided free of charge.
Cadets and parents are encouraged to participate in and contribute to fundraising on behalf of the Local Sponsoring Committee and League, to offset costs not covered by the Department of National Defence.

Explore is a five-week intensive language-learning course. You can take the course in the spring or summer, whichever you prefer! This means that you can take a job for the rest of the summer, if you wish.*
Participants in Explore receive a $2,000 bursary covering tuition fees for the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation (please note that the bursary constitutes taxable income). The educational institution you will be attending will receive the bursary directly. Some schools offer the possibility of credit transfers for the course you take, so check with the institution where you wish to transfer your credits.
